Fort Zachary Taylor from the east were never complete, but the astounding 8-foot thick granite wall never got a
chance to test its strength against the enemies artillery force.
Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park
The Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park, also known as Fort Zach to locals, is a State Park and National
Historic Landmark near the southern tip of Key West, Florida. The fort was built around 1845 to 1866, and
protected this part of Florida from barbarous attacks during the civil war. This fort echoes of its bravery to keep
Key West as successful as it is today.
