At the Miami Seaquarium, things can get wet and wild. This 38-acre oceanarium located on the Virginia Key
Island on Biscayne Key is the oldest oceanarium in the United States. Receiving a footfall over 500,000 people
annually, this place catches the attention of ardent admirers of aquatic life.
Seaquarium is known to be unique in its own sense and packs the whole deal. Offering a tempting chance to
witness performances of trained aquatic mammals besides conducting touch and feel sessions, Seaquarium
makes a cut above the rest in all aspects.
Why Visit Seaquarium?
Where else would you get a chance to experience live animal shows, a huge aquarium, feeding sessions and
water slides, all in one place? Seaquarium is the ultimate educational family entertainment spot and will be a hit
with children, owing to the host of features it offers.
Touch, Feel, and Feed
There’s a huge touch tank wherein you can get the feel of sea anemones which you might have only come
across during snorkeling or diving. Besides this, you can also feed a few rare species of turtles. But easily the
best one of them all, is a chance to feed sharks from a distance. Watch as these gruesome creatures rip the
food to shreds and devour it.
The Main Reef Aquarium
The central attraction at the Seaquarium constitutes a 750,000 gallon saltwater aquarium complete with teeming
fishes in an array of vibrant and exotic tropical colors. During the brief presentation of the Reef, you can watch
divers wading their way in and hand feeding some of these beautiful creatures.
The Dolphin Encounter
Meet nature’s most beloved creatures-dolphins! Watch as these trained and highly intelligent creatures put up a
stunning show for you. The chemistry between them and the trainers will act as the biggest example of the
immense bond these animals share with humans. Dolphins have been known to rescue humans from real
danger in the past. Get to know more about these amazing creatures from the informative presentation that
precedes the show.
Educational Activities:
The Seaquarium also allows children and adults a peek into its rescue activities. Witness countless rescued
animals and learn how the Seaquarium makes efforts for their rehabilitation. Another great initiative by the
oceanarium is the ‘Trainer for a Day’ program which allows the participants to get behind the scenes and get
practical experience on what it takes to handle the animals.
Other Activities:
Go for a swim with seals, watch the incredible show of a killer whale performing with dolphins, get wet in the
water slides, spot crocodiles, sea turtles , tropical birds in their natural setting or take a Sea Trek Reef Encounter
which allows you to encounter a variety of fishes. With lots to do and so much to see, Seaquarium is the perfect
place to get educated, learn, witness the new and view oceanic life from an altered perspective.
