A True Taste of Key West

If you are looking for a subtropical paradise to vacation at, Key West ought to be on top of your checklist.

Florida’s southernmost island is closer to Cuba than Miami and is well worth a visit for many reasons. Its

natural beauty, history, cultural diversity, wonderful climate, and unabashed romantic appeal, are just a few

reasons why we recommend a Key West tour any time of the year.

Museums for a taste of history

Key West has been home to many greats that include Tennessee Williams, Robert Frost, and Ernest

Hemingway, to name a few. Not only did the discover solace but were inspired enough by the island to pen

many of their works. On your visit don’t forget to drop by Hemingway Museum, the home of the renowned

author and of many firsts. It was the first home to be fitted with indoor plumbing, and the first to feature a

swimming pool in Key West, to name a few. The museum offers tours by knowledgeable guides with a story to

tell.

Getting around the island

Art lover’s paradise

Art lovers would definitely want to discover the island’s modern art treasures to be found at over a dozen art

galleries. Gallery On Greene on Greene Street is one of the island’s popular galleries with an extensive

collection of works by museum quality artists that include Annie Dillard, Tennessee Williams, and Jeff

MacNelly.

The island’s oldest art gallery, Key West Art Center and Gallery on Front Street is also a must visit to marvel at

works that showcase the colors and vibrant mood of Key West. The gallery hosts two of the biggest art events

so if you are on the island in January and February this is the best time to enjoy art at its best.

crystal clear waters can be an exhilarating experience to say the least. Do take advantage of boat tours that

take you to some of the coolest reefs where you can enjoy a close encounter with marine life. The Sand Key

Lighthouse and Dry Tortugas National Park are among the prime spots for snorkeling and other water sports
