A Few Romantic Things to do on Your Key West Tour

A Key West tour is considered one of the most romantic things any couple can embark upon. From watching

the glorious Florida sun set in a haze of gold, at Mallory Square’s sunset celebration, or at the historic seven

mile bridge… to taking scenic bike rides along the heritage trail…to watching the panoramic view from the Key

West Lighthouse. Or just a picnic at the soft sandy beach at Bahia Honda State Park. A Key West Tour is full of

Watch the sunset

If you are a party loving type of couple, you just must not miss the Sunset celebrations at Mallory Square. As

the sun goes down, the square suddenly comes alive with all kinds of street performers and takes on a truly

festive look. You’ll see some very tall (8 foot tall) people walking around and clowning around with the public -

these are the stilt walkers.

They walk with absolute comfort and confidence on their tall stilts and will gallantly tip their hats at all the

women. Then there are jugglers, fire-eaters, sword eaters, tightrope walkers… all manner of magicians and

jokers. They turn this beautiful event (the Florida sunset), into a burst of celebrations. Every evening, as the sun

goes down.

If you want a more cozy sunset celebration choose from any of the waterfront restaurants that give you a great

view of the sunset. Sunset Pier at the northern end of Duval Street is absolutely the best. You have an

unobstructed view of the sun setting into the sea ahead of you and great music played by live bands on the stage

behind you. You can also wine and dine on the best of liquors and the finest seafood at this pier.

If you want to get even more romantic at sunset, hire a wooden schooner with two tall sails and sail out into the

sunset. You just might also get the company of playful dolphins silhouetted in the setting sun.

If you are a couple that loves kayaking, then try kayaking among the mangroves at sunset. You’ll also have the

company of many water birds returning home to roost.

Take a biking trip together

Would you like to do something romantic during the day? Rent a couple of bikes and ride down the heritage

trail. There are so many waterfront roads to ride down. So many bridges to cross. Alternatively, you can spend

the whole day exploring the streets of Key West. Grab a Cuban coffee and a Cuban sandwich along the way. Or

maybe try a Cuban cigar with a glass of some fine wine.

Visit some of the old houses and museums

A walk in Hemmingway’s gardens will take you back to the days when romance and adventure rules each day

out here. There are many museums such as the east and west Martello towers, the Old Customs house, and the

Mel Fischer Museum where the two of you can try out some of the gold rings that are sold as antiques here.

Picnic on the Bahia Honda Beach

They call it one of the most beautiful beaches in the US. The sand is soft, white, and fine as powdered sugar.

The waters are warm and inviting, the views are awesome. Just what you need to bond better as a couple.
